The Monument

It is with enormous gratitude to all who have played a part in moving the project forward in 2011 and especially we must give our sincere appreciation for the support received from the Euxton Parochial Church Committee in conjunction with the Diocese of Blackburn, for granting permission for us to use the grounds of the Euxton Community Centre subject to conditions on which to construct the memorial in honour of Euxton’s war dead. To be given this approval has removed a major challenge from our agenda.

During the first half of 2012, the group will be commissioning drawings and sketches for it's thoughts on what the memorial should look like.

The group have put three designs forward in May 2013, all the designs are being professionally drawn up and it is hoped that over the summer of 2013 the War Memorial Group will be able to present the drawings at one of it's meetings.

The group were aiming to have a memorial erected for November 2014, but because of issues with the Portland Stone, have had to reset the completion date to mid 2015, works will begin on the foundations in March 2015.

Planning permission for the proposed memorial was granted on May 28th 2014. The group would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in helping us get to this position.

We still need lots of support so please keep coming back to the website for regular updates and how you can help us achieve our goal.
